Upcoming

My schedule for this year is jam packed with goodness. If you’re keeping an eye on the home or books pages (or this blog), you’ve already figured out that May and June will both offer really great treats to readers.

The first treat is the publication of a Daughters of the People omnibus, comprised of the first three books in the series, The Prophecy (2nd ed.), Light’s Bane (2nd ed.), and The Enemy Within. The omnibus is scheduled for release on or about 15 May 2015. The second edition of Light’s Bane will be released concurrently to select major online book vendors.

The second treat is the publication on or about 12 June 2015 of my first SciFi Romance, The Choosing (A Novel of the Pruxnae). I’ve really enjoyed creating and developing this story world and have tentative plans to eventually expand it into a series. Later, though, because there are so many other stories I’m working on and those need to be completed first.

I’m very close to completing the first draft of the fifth Daughters of the People novel, Sanctuary. This one is full of action and humor, and has developed into a really sweet romance. I’ve tentatively scheduled it for release in August, but that depends entirely on whether or not I can get a cover made for it by then. I’m planning on contacting my cover designer later this week. Hopefully, once I hear back from her, I can set a firmer release date.

I’ve already started working on developing the sixth Daughters of the People novel, The Gathering Storm. In fact, a few nights ago, I sat down and hammered out the first scene and part of the second one. Over the past year or so, I’ve been working on understanding my writing process. Part of that process involves deep thinking time about the characters and the story before, during, and after the actual writing takes place. I don’t plan on beginning hard work on TGS until June, but I wanted to go ahead and get that deep thinking time in now. I’m not setting a publication date on this one until I finish the first draft, but I do hope to release it late this year or possibly early next year.

I know readers are anxious to know how the Daughters of the People Series will end. I can’t say yet! Don’t want to give the ending away, but I can say that, yes, Hiro and India will get their own story (Book 6.5, Redemption) and that we’ll learn the identity of the Woman with No Face in Book 7, War’s Last Refuge. There’s a distinct possibility (not a probability, mind you) that these could both be released next year.

I’ve mentioned the Urban Fantasy I’m writing a couple of times. Now’s as good a time as any to spill the beans on it. The title will be Greenwood Cove. It’s set locally (to me), blends a local legend with portions of a tale plucked from the Legends of Charlemagne, and is written in the first person from the perspective of Sunshine Walkingstick, who is really a very ordinary person. Truthfully, this one is a Contemporary Fantasy, but most people don’t make the distinction, so UF it is. There’s a very strong romantic element to the story (I am primarily a romance writer), but the fantasy, mythology, and other elements should more than make up for that, for those of you that prefer no romantic subplot. I’m about halfway through the first draft of GC. I’ll be picking it back up later this week. Again, no word yet on a publication date, but you’ll definitely be hearing more about this one.

Finally, y’all have read my brief discussions about writing as a business. I try to stay away from that topic on here because frankly, it’s a bit boring to readers. But, I have to make lots and lots of decisions about my books that I wouldn’t make if I weren’t trying to make a living as a writer. For example, the decision to rewrite The Prophecy and Light’s Bane was made primarily because doing so made good business sense.

Likewise, revamping A Higher Purpose and rebranding that series makes good business sense. I love AHP and A Wicked Love, but they’re not reaching readers. So in June, I’ll be taking a good long look at AHP, formulating a new series title, and giving both AHP and AWL new covers. I’ll also be creating print versions, for those of you that prefer print. I might, maybe, perhaps release an omnibus, too, but again, that’s just a possibility. No idea when these changes will take effect, but probably by early 2016.

So there you have it, a sneak peek at upcoming releases, scheduled changes to existing titles, and next year’s possible publications. If I didn’t mention a story you’re interested in reading, it’s not necessarily because the story won’t be written. It’s just that I don’t know where I’m going with it yet. As always, stay tuned for more news down the road.
