One other blog picked up the cover reveal for Light's Bane after my initial post thanking everyone: Books by Kristy Centeno

Thanks, Kristy!

A Wicked Love is about one-third finished. This is the second installment in the Witches of Cullowhee series and its running a little longer than I expected. The target release date is in August of this year.

There's a huge kerfuffle going on about the RT Booklovers Convention held last week in New Orleans. Apparently, indie authors were separated out into a smaller, obscure room for the book signing session (or not, depending upon whom you ask) and called "aspiring authors" (or not, depending upon whom you ask), in spite of the fact that many of those authors earned mega-bucks last year. The low-down appears to be that this was an administrative decision concerning the way returnable vs. non-returnable books are handled (don't ask) and/or a request from one of the sponsors/vendors.

My two cents? The convention and its organizer (RT Book Reviews, formerly Romantic Times) should have (a) been more organized, and (b) had a weather eye on the future of publishing. Many new and established authors are eschewing traditional publishing in favor of independent publishing or choosing some combination of the two. In a few years, it's conceivable that more than half of all romance authors will be indie. If enough authors decide to boycott the convention because of the way they're treated, the convention will die, which would be a blow to the entire romance community. Such an outcome can easily be avoided with some tact and diplomacy from the organizer, and patience and grace on the part of authors.
