After months of hard work, the second edition of The Prophecy (Daughters of the People, Book 1) is finally here. L.J. Anderson of Mayhem Cover Creations just finished the cover, which is absolutely beautiful. L.J. does stunning work. If you haven’t dropped by her website and drooled over her covers, you definitely should.
The changes between the first and second editions of The Prophecy are fairly extensive, so much so that I’ve asked Kindle Direct Publishing (Amazon’s e-publishing arm) to distribute the second edition to everyone who bought or downloaded the first one through them. In addition to a new cover, I added a glossary and a prologue. My editor assures me the prologue alone is enough to warrant a good re-reading as it (as he put it) changes the entire dynamic of the story and the series. I don’t know about that, but I can say that while the story remains the same, the writing is much, much better now and should make for an easier and more entertaining read.
I’m making the e-book edition widely available as a free download (hopefully, even on Amazon) since it’s the entry point to the entire world of the People. That may take a few days to a couple of weeks to accomplish. The price of the print edition has increased to $11.99 due to the addition of around 9000 words. It should be available shortly. If you’re wondering where you can pick up a copy, visit the book’s page. A list of retailers is along the upper right-hand side of the page.
I hope to have the cover redone soon for Light’s Bane, the second book in the series, just in time for the release of its second edition. The changes there won’t be nearly as extensive, so I won’t be asking KDP to update all versions. I have plenty more in store for readers in upcoming months, including the release of the first Daughters of the People omnibus (you’re not a real fantasy writer until you release an omnibus), the release of the first Sons of the People novel in April, and the release of Sanctuary, the fifth book in the series, possibly as early as August.
