Sweet Surrender (The Pruxnae, Book 2) by Lucy Varna

News Roundup

I've pushed the release of Sweet Surrender (The Pruxnae, Book 2) back by a month. The official release date is now 30 March 2025, but if I can get it out sooner, I will.

It has a brand new and, hopefully, final cover as well. The new cover was created by Ana Cruz Designs, who also created the fabulous new cover for The Choosing.

I cannot express how pleased I am with these covers. Not only are the gorgeous, but they also convey the nature of the stories: Space Opera SciFi Romance, or what I call "Pew Pew Romance."

I hope to write more Pew Pew Romances in the future, possibly in the same universe as the Pruxnae Series. That, however, will depend entirely on readers. If you've got a preference, please leave a comment or email me.

I've finished revamping the story side of The Prophecy (Daughters of the People, Book 1).

Next up: writing a new blurb (aka cover copy). I ran some test ads to see if I could find the pinch point in my sales funnel. Readers clicked on the cover at a good rate, but those clicks failed to convert to sales or page reads, indicating a problem with the sales page. I'm guessing it's the description, which is wordy and not very compelling.

So. New blurb time.

I'll also be looking at other blurbs to see if they're equally as problematic. The Choosing's blurb could definitely use a makeover!

This is all part of the behind-the-scenes business stuff that most readers never realize is happening. Like any industry, publishing is quite complex. The end product, a well-written story, is definitely worth the effort!

The prequel novella to the Warlords of Zephyria Series, The Alien Warlord's Surprise Mate, is now available exclusively to newsletter subscribers.

Once Sweet Surrender is published, my focus will shift to The Alien Warlord's Fated Mate, the first Warlords novel, which I stopped working on so that I could write Surprise Mate.

This story world came about in a moment of despair, when I was struggling to write pretty much anything. One day, maybe I'll explain that whole story, but the important part is that writing Warlords has reminded me how much I love SciFi Romance. It's not just the Romance, which has been one of my favorite genres since my late teens. The SciFi worldbuilding has been so much fun. I'd honestly forgotten how much I enjoy it. And now that I'm writing it again, I'm kind of wallowing in all the lovely ideas that are popping up. We'll see where those ideas take us.

Peace and happy reading!
