News Roundup

I recently took the plunge into Pinterest and am completely addicted. I love being able to organize images (with links and tidbits) around whatever I like. For readers, I've created boards for each book in the Daughters of the People Series, as well as a separate board for the series itself. I'm working on boards for the Witches of Cullowhee Series and future releases.

On those boards, you'll find character images, teasers, and links to reviews and interesting, pertinent articles, like some of the research that goes into each book. Boards for individual books are linked to on each book's page. The Daughters of the People Series board is here. Please note that I've grouped boards for both of my pen names under one name, along with boards for individual interests, like my bucket list (for some reason, there are a lot of sports pins) and a board with random, miscellaneous pins.

Yeah, I'm having waaaay too much fun on Pinterest.

Tomorrow's Promise (A Daughters of the People Novelette) by Lucy Varna

A while back, I listed a few shorter stories I'd like to work on in the near future. One of them was a short story I titled "The Right Brother," a spin-off of In All Things, Balance (Daughters of the People, Book 4).

On a wild hair, I sat down and spent time working on that story and came to the conclusion that there was no way I could fit the complete story into eight to ten thousand words. The first few chapters make an excellent introduction to the story, however, so I've set them aside and will release them as a novelette in March 2015 under the title "Tomorrow's Promise." As with many of my shorter works, this one will be exclusive to newsletter subscribers

Marisa G. at Reading to Distraction has posted a five-star review of A Wicked Love (Witches of Cullowhee, Book 2), recommending it for "Chick Lit fans looking for something with a little historical context and a solid dose of romance."

To my utter shock, she also named the Daughters of the People Series as one of her top-ten recommended Valentine's Day reads. I'm on there with some heavy hitters, including one of my all-time favorite writers, Nora Roberts, whose Vision in White Series is absolutely lovely. I might've seen Marisa's recommendations sooner if I hadn't been watching region basketball tournies. (Hey, my niece and nephew were playing.)

Many, many thanks to Marisa for taking the time to read and review these books!
